Desde o momento em que li este post duma blogger portuguesa, sabia que tinha mesmo de ir experimentar este novo café. E porquê? Porque é bem diferente dos cafés tradicionais portugueses que geralmente têm uma decoração fria (ou inexistente) e empregados rudes; porque é uma lufada de ar fresco e algo de entusiasmante.
A Wish Slow Coffee House está localizada na Lx Factory, que era uma antiga fábrica de tecido e agora é um dos lugares mais contemporâneos com cafés e lojas de bolos engraçadíssimas, lojas vintage e de decoração única e muito mais (tipo loja de tatuagens, etc).
Com o melhoramento deste lugar, pôde-se também verificar em Lisboa isto mesmo. Portugal é conhecido por ser um dos últimos países a querer abraçar uma nova tendência. Por exemplo, o sushi que já há anos foi moda noutros países, só há pouco tempo é que teve um grande crescimento e adesão em Portugal. E enquanto que cá está em alta, noutros sítios já há novas tendências de comida a substitui-lo. E o mesmo acontece com os cafés. Devem ter lido aqui que em Madrid encontrei uma série de cafés diferentes que adorei, e Lisboa só agora é que está a dar este salto para cafés com um conceito e um melhor atendimento ao cliente (e surpreendentemente, são os cafés de donos estrangeiros que estão a ter mais sucesso, por exemplo, este que é dirigido por um Russo).
Mas pronto, de volta ao post. Wish. Fundado por uma portuguesa. Espaço muito convidativo, com uma ótima iluminação natural, um design de papel de parede giríssimo (que, já agora, também o vendem) e pratos deliciosos. Podes ver em baixo a tábua de tapas que pedi no outro dia: eram três bruschettas divinas, uma com raspas de parmesão, rúcula e um fio de azeite, a outra com uma pasta de abacate - que sabia mesmo a guacamole - e ainda uma com pedaços de tomate seco e cubinhos de queijo feta. YUM!
Mas o que eu queria mesmo provar eram as mini panquecas holandesas. Não eram nem muito doces nem muito secas, eram perfeitas com a canela e o açúcar em pó acompanhado com um copo de cappuccino (apesar de esperar uma melhor latte art...).
Foi definitivamente uma bela tarde de chuva aproveitada para partilhar panquecas e histórias.
[EN]: From the moment I read this post from a Portuguese blogger, I knew I had to go to this coffee shop. And why? Because it's far from being a traditional Portuguese corner coffee shop with cold (or non-existing) decor and rude employees; because it's a breath of fresh air and something exciting.
Wish Slow Coffee House is located in Lx Factory, which was an old fabric factory and is now the hippest place with cool coffee and cake shops, unique decor and vintage stores and a whole lot more (tattoo shops, etc).
As this new place has been upgrading, so has Lisbon itself. Portugal is known for being one of the last countries to embrace a trend. Sushi, for example, has been trendy for many years everywhere, but now that trend has been replaced for other trends, Poke for example. Here in Portugal, sushi had its boom a couple years ago and it still hasn't disappeared. The same goes for coffee shops. As you have might read here, in Madrid I found tons of swanky places, but in Lisbon they are appearing very slowly (and the ones who succeed are actually by foreigners, for instances, this one is owned by a Russian).
But back to the post. Wish. Owned by a Portuguese. Very inviting space with bright lighting, unique wall paper designs (they sell it btw) and very tasty food. You can see below the tapas we had the other day: delicious 3 bruschettas one with avocado paste - really tasted like guacamole -, another with thin slices of parmesan cheese, arugula and a drizzle of olive oil, and the third one with dried tomato and feta cheese. Simply delicious!
But the only thing I wanted to taste was their mini Dutch pancakes. They're not too sweet nor too dry, just perfect with cinnamon and powder sugar on top and a glass of cappuccino to alternate (was kinda expected a more perfect latte art, honestly...).
It was certainly a pleasant rainy afternoon sharing pancakes and girl's talk.
